Because of the storm, the funicular was out of order for the rest of our holiday. That meant a lot of walking up the hill between Mazzaro’ and Taormina.

Hundreds of steps, but so worth it.

Chiesa di Sant'Agostino in Roma

When visiting Rome, last spring, I did my usual pilgrimage around the churches with Caravaggio’s. The Basilica of Sant’Agostino is one of them.

At that time they were doing some work of restoration, and the fine material used to shield some of the areas, combined with the light filtering through the high windows, produced fascinating effects.

Enough to distracting me from admiring Caravaggio’s Madonna di Loreto.
