One of the reasons I love living in London is that there is so much to do and see.

Sometimes though, I feel the need to get away, to see more sky, to see more green. When that happens, we pack our bags, grab the camera and head to the countryside.

Hatfield House is just 30 minutes train journey from Highbury & Islington station, and well worth the visit.

Apart from the beautiful Jacobean Palace, there’s a large garden and the park. We managed to visit the house, stroll in the garden (there’s an exhibition of sculptures that makes the place even more appealing), and walk around a little section of the park.

We are already planning another visit soon, to see the rest of the park. Weather permitting.
